Die T115-Story

Die Geschichte der Dampfturbinen fing bei Wilesco im Jahr 2000 mit der T90 an. diese wurde aber 2012 wieder aus dem Programm genommen. Die Turbine war eine komplette Eigenkonstruktion von Wilesco in Kunststoff. Es wurde zwar das Prinzip deutlich dargestellt, wirklich Antriebsleistung hatte das gute Stück aber leider nicht.

The history of steam turbines began at Wilesco in 2000 with the T90. but this was taken out of the program again in 2012. The turbine was a completely in-house construction by Wilesco made of plastic. The principle was clearly explained, but unfortunately the good piece didn't really have any drive power.

2015 kam dann die T125 als Neuheit. Dieses Mal mit einer qualitativ hochwertigen und leistungsstärkeren Turbine. Diese wurde von Gintschel Modellbau hergestellt und von Wilesco verwendet. Leider stellte Gintschel die Produktion schon 2 Jahre später wieder ein und die T125 wurde zu einem der seltensten Wilesco-Modelle. Angeblich wurden nur ca. 260 Stück gebaut.

In 2015 the T125 was introduced as a novelty. This time with a high quality and more powerful turbine. This was manufactured by Gintschel Modellbau and used by Wilesco. Unfortunately, Gintschel stopped production again just two years later and the T125 became one of the rarest Wilesco models. Apparently only around 260 were built.

Nachdem aber immer wieder Kunden nach einer neuen Turbine fragten, machte man sich dann Gedanken über einen Nachfolger. Erster Ansatz war wieder eine auf dem Markt verfügbare Turbine zu verwenden.

But after customers repeatedly asked for a new turbine, they started thinking about a successor. The first approach was to use a turbine that was available on the market.

Das Zusammenspiel mit der verfügbaren Dampfleistung und der Turbine stellte sich anhand des Prototypen aber leider als nicht zielführend heraus. So wurde dieses Setup nicht weiter verfolgt und die Entscheidung zu einer weiteren Eigenkonstruktion wurde getroffen.

Unfortunately, the interaction with the available steam output and the turbine turned out to be ineffective based on the prototype. So this setup was not pursued any further and the decision was made to build another in-house design..

So entstand dann der erste Prototyp der neuen T115, wie er auch in Nürnberg auf der Spielwarenmesse 2023 gezeigt wurde.

This is how the first prototype of the new T115 was created, as it was shown in Nuremberg at the 2023 toy fair.

Von der Form her voluminösere Formen als im späteren Serienmodell, allerdings als 3D-Druck in Kunststoff ausgeführt. Interessantes Detail: der Messing-Ring des Gehäuses ist das Vorderrad des Dampftraktors D406.

The shape is more voluminous than in the later series model, but is 3D printed in plastic. Interesting detail: the brass ring of the housing is the front wheel of the D406 steam tractor.

Der Prototyp hatte noch die flache Wasserschale in Richtung des Kesselhauses. Das machte die Handhabung nicht wirklich komfortabel - und auch heiß.

The prototype still had the shallow water bowl facing the boiler house. That made handling not really comfortable - and also hot.

Das Serienmodell (links im Bild) kommt nur zwar etwas nüchterner daher, dafür aber mit gelasertem Blech. Ein paar Kunststoff-Bauteile sind zwar noch übrig, aber in Summe passt es so meiner Meinung nach deutlich besser zu Wilesco.

Die Kondensschale sitzt nun auch direkt unter der Turbine mit Entnahme nach aussen.

The production model (on the left in the picture) is a little more sober, but with laser-cut sheet metal. There are still a few plastic components left, but overall I think it fits Wilesco much better.

The condensation tray is now located directly under the turbine with extraction to the outside.

Und so ist dann eine formschöne und auch leistungsstarke Turbine entstanden. Neben dem Generator bietet diese über die Schnurlaufrolle noch die Möglichkeit weitere Modelle anzutreiben.

And so an elegant and powerful turbine was created. In addition to the generator, this also offers the option of driving other models via the cord pulley.
