D40 Birkel

Mir war eine Sonderausführung des D40 von der Firma Birkel schon seit Längerem bekannt. Jetzt kann ich endlich mehr dazu zeigen und sagen, als das Bild links.

I had known a special version of the D40 from the Birkel company for a long time. Now I can finally show and say more about it than the picture on the left.

Von einem Dampffreund aus meiner alten Heimat (Lipperland) konnte ich einen neuwertigen Birkel-Traktor inklusive Verpackung und Dokumenten bekommen. Danke Marcel!

From a steam friend from my old home (Lipperland) I was able to get a new Birkel tractor including packaging and documents. Thanks Marcel!

Dem Dampftraktor liegt ein Schreiben der Firma Birkel bei, in dem auf die tollen Produkte des Unternehmens und die Qualität dieser  hingewiesen wird! In dem Schreiben ist auch die Rede von "Zusammenarbeit mit Birkel bedeutet..". Daraus schließe ich, dass diese Werbe-Version des Traktors an Birkel-Händler ausgegeben wurde.

A letter from the Birkel company is enclosed with the steam tractor, in which the great products of the company and the quality of these are pointed out! The letter also speaks of "cooperation with Birkel means ..". From this I conclude that this advertising version of the tractor was issued to Birkel dealers.

Auf einem weiteren Dokument wird auch wieder auf "Partnerschaft", "Präsent" und "Teigwarengeschäft" hingewiesen. Abgerundet wird das Ganze dann mit der Unterschrift des Chef. Für Sammler aber am wertvollsten: eine genaue Datierung! Das Birkel-Sondermodell des D40 wurd zum Osterfest 1979 ausgegeben.

Another document refers to "partnership", "present" and "pasta business". The whole thing concluded with the signature of the boss of the Birkel-company. Most valuable for collectors: exact dating! The Birkel special model of the D40 was issued for Easter 1979.

Zusätzlich zu dem Aufkleber auf der Front und den Dokumenten wurde dieses Sondermodell mit einer besonderen Verpackung versehen. Über den normalen Wilesco-Karton wurde ein Birkel-Werbedruck gezogen. Hierauf war ein D40 mit Verkleidungen an Rädern und Dach abgebildet, welche Verpackungen von Birkel-Produkten waren.

In addition to the sticker on the front and the documents, this special model was provided with special packaging. A Birkel advertising print was drawn over the normal Wilesco cardboard. A D40 with wheel and roof cladding was shown on it, which was the packaging of Birkel products.

Diese Verkleidungen waren aber offensichtlich nur eine Fotomontage für den Karton. Guckt man genau hin, sieht man dass der Kamin nicht mittig aus der Verpackung kommt. So wäre das sicher in echt nicht dargestellt worden.

But these covers were obviously just a photo montage for the box. If you look closely, you can see that the smoke stack does not come out of the packaging in the middle. That would surely not have been realized in that way, if it would have been real.

Es ist auch schön, dass der originale Wilesco-Aufkleber noch vorhanden ist. Diese Ausführung zusammen mit der genauen Datierung des Modells bestätigt meine bisherige Einschätzung der Baujahre.

It's also nice that the original Wilesco sticker is still there. This version together with the exact dating of the model confirms my previous assessment of the years of construction.

In Summe eine wirklich tolle Ergänzung, auf die ich sehr stolz bin!
